Last Wednesday, I could hardly wait to attend one of my favourite Canadian designer's F/W 2010 collection screening. Not only because I love her designs but Nada was showcasing something unique in the fashion world - the first 3D Fashion short film. Upon entrance at the Scotia Bank Theatre, we were handed our own pair of 3D glasses for the experience!
The film featured models dressed as "Femme Bots" and battling in a selected Nada design. Nada explained that her inspiration for the film concept came from China and its focus on mass production...imagining if people became more robotic as the future progressed. She stated that the video game format of the film just seemed "natural" and that it was always in her sights to present fashion in a futuristic way.
Somehow she worked on the film and her collection at the same time - talk about Super Woman. I thought the concept and designs were amazing though the film seemed to be lacking that story line "zinger" for me (sorry, I make up words all the time).
Overall, great job and congrats to Nada for embarking on this. Your Fall/Winter line is truly unique...sharp, detailed cuts with a navy, grey, peach and black colour palette.
Oh, how I wish to dress in NADA everyday!

BeautyBot Was There: Pre-LG Fashion Week Event in Toronto!
Last night I attended a pre-fashion week event held by my girls Shannae Ingleton, Yvonne Kai and Shay Ironmonger in collaboration with Fuze and Amanda Brugel of The Red Carpet Room. The event was a hit with amazing turn-out on a Monday night no less! Toronto fashionistas, fashionistos, media and designers all gathered to celebrate Canadian designers. The event took place at The Fifth Social Club downtown Toronto. Not only was there a runway show but also local jewelry designers displaying and selling their unique pieces. As you know, I am a big supporter of Canadian fashion and this event truly set the tone in anticipation of next week's fashion week festivities!

BeautyBot Behind The Scenes: Singer Marla Guloien
WOW...This weekend I worked with talented singer Marla Guloien and an amazing creative team! We were shooting Marla for her upcoming promotional material supporting her debut album. Marla was down in Toronto networking and promoting her music during Canadian Music Week. We started bright and early Saturday morning...The Scene: the unique Gladstone Hotel in the Queen St. West area.
Our shoot took place in the fabulous red room! Overall, the make-up look was very smokey eyes, long lashes and either coral or fuscia pink lips. Some scenes were Audrey Hepburn inspired.
Despite the rainy day in Toronto - we had a blast at the shoot...getting the mood right - dancing to Jos Stone, Beyonce and Gaga. The day may have involved some bubbly! We ended our Saturday at Poutin on Queen St. W (near Nyood)...scarfing down a layered cheese poutine! There could be no better ending.
Soon I will be posting the final shots and a profile on Marla and her soulful album.
Stay tuned for the photos...but for now enjoy these behind the scenes photos!

Dear Montreal, I love you more than rainbows!
After spending the last few days in Montreal for work - I have become inspired all over again. With the blend of rich culture, history, fashion, great people and most importantly, phenemonal food...I just had to blog about it. I feel renewed and ready to take on the world.
So Montreal - thank you for the following:
- your hospitality
- poutine (To my American readers - it's fries, gravy and cheese curds)
- smoked meat sandwich with pickles
- unique winding staircase apartment buildings
- Roberto's Italian Restaurant (The owner took very good care of me! Amazing food and the first time I had hand-made pasta! http://www.restaurantroberto.com/)
- well-dressed men...umm everywhere!
- French speaking lessons at work
- authentic cappucinos every morning
Oh I could go on...but I'll stop! Instead enjoy my collage!

From LA to NYC to T.O. - Toronto's Very Own Reality Show!
I always wondered when Toronto would jump onto the reality show bandwagon and have our own version of The Hills. Well tonight I just found out from a friend that we do...new on the Slice Network will be our own reality tv show called: JACLIFE.
Now, you may be wondering: Who is Jack? Well, definitely not a man (which is what my first thought was)! It's actually a twenty-something named Jaclyn who owns the popular store JACFLASH on Queen Street. I have been there and love that store! Although I have no official information - I am told that the show will follow Jacyln and her friends through the trials and triumphs of running their store, their clothing line and let us not forget - the infamous party scene. There is an intro "webisode" on Slice. I put the link below - I encourage you to watch and leave some comments!
As for me, I have no idea what I think yet...too early to judge. Although, it appears to be a familiar story line (fashion, friends, parties, drama) - I am excited to see how the show turns out. We all know I am a big Toronto supporter, so I wait in anticipation as the episodes unfold...
I'm sure I will bump into the girls on the scene - so I can't wait to chat with them about it.
Until then...that is all for now!

Lucian Matis: Fall/Winter 2010 Collection Preview
Lucian Matis definitely has new inspiration for his Fall/Winter 2010 Collection. He states that this collection will be Romanian folklore inspired. It seems clear from the photograph that we can expect rich fabrics, prints and of course - stand out accessories and head pieces. Every season I wait in anticipation for Lucian's latest head piece or jewelry on the runway...always a hit in my books!
I wonder what the rest of the collection will be like...I'm thinking hemp, linen, silks and wool fabrics coupled with metal and beaded statement jewelry. I wait in anticipation...
So excited for his runway show April 1st, 2010 at 5pm in the fashion week tents!
Good luck Lucian and thanks for the photos!
